Discovery

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)

Mon Dieu!

Couldn't resist this shot during August's visit to France - those cheeky French, eh?

But 1000m?

Variety is the Spice of Life

It's been a colourful week. Work, as always dominates, but through a series of chance conversations/meetings, I caught up with some old colleagues some of whom I had not seen in 10 years aswell as meeting some new & interesting people.

On the road again for a few days, apologies to Smoo (aka 'number one fan') who used to expect her daily updates - I'm afraid (and she knows it) real life keeps getting in the way.

Whatever your week holds in store, I hope it has variety, colour and always a little spice!

Retrospective & Introspective

Sifting through some old horsey pictures for a friend and came across this one again. I make no apology for repeating an old favourite. Mind you, I've just realised the front page is a little dominated by black & white, so for some more colour, here's the retrospective part two.

That jacket strapped to the saddle has always bothered me about this shot, but when you've been caught in a Montanan hail storm on what had been a t-shirt-is-all-you-need May afternoon, you'll never make the same mistake twice.

As the rain pours down again across many parts of Britain, my thoughts go out to all those dealing with the resultant mess. I'm convinced the increased flooding each year is due to changes in our land management, but it's not an area I understand much about. And, like many other social, economic, urban and rural problems in England, preventative action and long term solutions, seem to be lacking.

Time for 'Change' over here too I think.

One For The Girls

Have you ever been flicking through the channels and, hang on a minute, let me re-phrase that...you are watching tv whilst the man of the house is flicking through the channels and Oh! "Go back a minute .... who is THAT?" The 'THAT' in question was Tyrone Power Jr

Star of the silver screen in the 30's - 50's, tragically he died of a heart attack whilst filming a typically swashbuckling scene in Spain in 1958 at the age of only 44 (I have learned all this from the wonderful worldwide interweb) Phwoar as they say in these parts.

And so, pardon the departure from normal topics/photos, I felt I should share with the girls. (Or boys of course, if that's your thing)

Been busy round here of late, usual stuff. But the fun part was picking up a new (ish) car today, Italian of course! And far more economical, fantastico! So, I was thinking about cars, movie stars etc. and thought I'd start up a MeMe. Here goes:

1. First car

2. Fave star

3. Oh bollocks, I'm bored with this, make up your own ending.

Ciao tutti!

Time to brighten up the pages with a few bursts of colour.

Fleur du France

When you are a 'Big Dog' you fly from Seattle to France with no fuss, you know how to deal with the paparazzi, you are comfortable in your own hair and you can show a stuffed hedgehog who's boss.
When you are a 'Big Dog' they name a town after you (oh yeah, and some unknown philosopher bloke)

When you are a 'Big Dog' you contemplate chasing the kite thingy but in the end, decide to just take in the view, conscious as always, of the camera following you.
Big Dog Fleur... a dog to match my mountains.

High Sky

Fair weather this weekend and it was nice of our friends to have us over for a hog roast. Yes, the very same pigs as pictured here and here but not the ACTUAL prize winners!
I thought long and hard about posting the pictures of dinner cooking, but decided you might not appreciate it. But take my word for it, it was great to taste real food with zero food miles (apart from a short trip to the ... well, you know where).
Back to work tomorrow, looks like being an interesting week. I am reminded of this.

And the Winner is...

...a pig called Miriam! Well done guys.

Seems everyone's gone to the fair this time of the year; check out some really nice shots over at The Farmer's Wife.

Meanwhile, we're casting around in search of Summer. Or that could be birds.
